Managing Consultant, Fundraising and Institutional Development
Yolonda Faulkner is a fundraising, communications and events consultant based in the DC Metro Area. Born with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love of sports, her career started in Virginia Tech’s Athletic Department as a student assistant in the Sports Information office. Her sports career highlights include working for the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Washington Redskins’ PR departments as well as with the NFL’s PR team for Super Bowls XL, XLV and XLVIII.
Faulkner’s local experience includes working for a variety of non-profits and small businesses as a public relations and events consultant. Most notably, she was the was the Director of Public Affairs for Perennial Strategy Group and the Director of Public Relations for Perennial Sports and Entertainment. In this role she was responsible for coordinating the external communication plans for the Strategy Group’s clients as well as planning and executing the community and media outreach plan for more than 20 professional athletes.
After making the transition to the political realm, she has been a fundraising consultant for large political action committees, elected officials on the federal level as well as candidates for local and federal office. She has helped to raise more than $1 million dollars in the last cycle by planning events, retreats, receptions as well as overseeing outreach and donor development.
In addition to her work experience, Faulkner stays connected to the community through her work with her volunteer with at Alfred Street Baptist Church.
