Natalie Provost, a Summer Associate at Grieboski Global Strategies, is a rising senior at the University of Virginia where she is majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Foreign Affairs. Natalie was born in Vienna, Virginia and grew up just miles away from the nation’s capital. She is excited to join GGS for the summer and work in the city that sparked her interest in politics.
Natalie returns to D.C. after studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark during the spring semester of 2017. While abroad, she was able to focus on two of her interests: international diplomacy and human rights. Natalie completed the European Politics program at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad, where she was taught by European professionals and gained immediate perspectives into the game of international politics. She spent one week in Brussels, where she visited the European Parliament, European Commission, and European External Action Service, interviewed Permanent Representatives from EU member states, and spoke with NGOs, media outlets, and interest groups to better understand the current crises facing the European Union and the challenges of international diplomacy. Natalie was also able to focus on her passion for human rights through classes on Women’s Rights, Refugee Law, and Genocide studies with field visits to sites such as refugee centers and Neuengamme Concentration camp that gave her a first hand understanding of human rights abuses and the responsibility to protect those rights.
Prior to her experience in Denmark, Natalie studied abroad in Valencia, Spain for 5 weeks in the summer of 2016. While in Valencia, Natalie stayed with a host family and took immersive Spanish language and culture courses. During her time in Spain, she improved her proficiency in Spanish and developed an enthusiasm for cross-cultural relationships and communication. Natalie accredits her knowledge of international relations to her study abroad experiences and feels fortunate to bring that insight to her work at GGS.
During her time at GGS, Natalie has had the opportunity to research and write memos pertaining to various Eurocentric topics. In addition, her Summer Associate position has also given her opportunities to explore new topics, learn more about the business of consulting, and improve her analytical skills. Natalie looks forward to the new challenges and experiences that her time at GGS will provide, and hopes to use the lessons she learns this summer wherever her future professional path takes her.
In her spare time, you can find Natalie binge listening to her favorite podcasts, cheering on the Wahoos, or planning her next trip abroad.
