He has consulted to several agencies of the U.S. Intelligence Community, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), as well as the U.S. State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and several Defense Department entities, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

Private companies for which he has produced strategic risk assessments include Hilton Worldwide (for hotel properties in various emerging markets), Control Risks, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).

His assessments have covered nearly every geopolitical region, including the Arctic, with the functional areas ranging from military conventional and counter-terrorism operations, to energy and water security issues, to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) proliferation and their arms control, to forecasting and monitoring political unrest as well as its ramifications for multinational companies.
